Imane Bougueffa is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 18 years of experience in the field of mental health and wellbeing. She specialises in adult, child, adolescent, and family therapy, with particular expertise in anxiety disorders, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, trauma and complex trauma (C-PTSD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, emotional regulation difficulties, neurodevelopmental conditions (including ADHD), and relationship and attachment-related issues.

Throughout her career, She has worked across hospital, outpatient, and specialised clinical settings in both Algeria and the United Arab Emirates, providing psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each client’s needs. She brings advanced expertise in both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and integrates her knowledge of multiple evidence-based approaches in a formulation-driven and client-centred manner.

In addition to her clinical practice, She is an EMDR Basic Training Facilitator and EMDRIA-approved Consultant, actively involved in the facilitation of EMDR Basic Training and the consultation and supervision of clinicians. Her consultation work focuses on case conceptualisation, protocol selection, treatment planning, and the ethical application of EMDR, with particular attention to complex trauma, attachment disturbances, dissociation, and ongoing trauma presentations.

Imane also provides professional consultation in ACT-informed practice, supporting clinicians in ACT-based case formulation, psychological flexibility processes, and the management of complex, high-risk, and treatment-resistant cases. Her consultation style is structured, reflective, and integrative, bridging theory, research, and clinical application.

Imane is deeply committed to promoting emotional wellbeing and empowering individuals, families, and clinicians to develop resilience, psychological flexibility, and effective coping strategies. Her therapeutic and consultancy approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, ethically grounded, and culturally sensitive, supporting meaningful and sustainable psychological growth.

An integrative, formulation-driven approach in which treatment is individually tailored to each client’s needs. Therapy includes skills-based interventions drawn from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic approaches, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to support self-regulation, present-moment awareness, and active engagement in life. Where appropriate, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is used to process past traumatic experiences, supporting the brain’s natural capacity to integrate and resolve trauma, thereby enhancing emotional regulation, adaptive functioning, and overall psychological wellbeing.

As human beings, I believe we are more similar than different, and that our brains function in fundamentally similar ways, with the primary goal of protecting us. Through both professional experience and clinical practice, I have come to deeply believe in our innate capacity to heal, adapt, and grow. With the right support, individuals can learn to regulate their emotions, make sense of their experiences, and intentionally direct their actions toward what truly matters to them, allowing them not only to cope, but to thrive.
